What causes indoor air pollution?

Many daily things may cause poor indoor air quality in your Columbus residence.

This includes:

  • Chemicals in [carpet, furniture and drapery that emit fumes
  • Cleaning products
  • Paint
  • Personal care products
  • Air fresheners and candles

Though they are usually more efficient, newer homes don’t breathe the way older residences do. Secure weather stripping and storm doors keep interior air in and outdoor air out. This provides better energy savings, but the limited exchange of outdoor and indoor air can cause pollutants accumulating indoors.

When this occurs, a whole-house ventilation system is suggested. Ventilation systems exchange contaminated interior air for cleaner exterior air without sacrificing energy savings.
